tesa® StretchSeal nominated for German Packaging Award 2010
The tesa tamper-evident seal impresses through its innovative opening mechanism and residue-free removability.

tesa® StrechSeal is one of 48 packaging solutions that are nominated for the German Packaging Award (Deutscher Verpackungspreis)
With tesa® StretchSeal 64017, tesa presented a new type of seal at the start of the year – a seal that combines secure sealing for both disposable and multi-use transport portable containers and product packaging along with means of identification for tracking and tracing products. The key feature of the new seal is its removal by simply pulling the tab lengthwise. The stretching action breaks the adhesive bond leaving absolutely no residue. At the same time, the seal is irreversibly destroyed. Consequently, any tampering or unauthorized opening is immediately evident at first glance, making improper reuse impossible.
It was precisely these qualities of tesa’s tamper-evident seal that also convinced the panel of judges made up of leading experts when selecting nominees for the 33rd German Packaging Award. With this nomination, tesa® StretchSeal has now reached the final of one of Europe’s most prestigious industry competitions. A total of 48 candidates from 276 submitted entries have been selected in seven categories. The final winners of the award that has been staged since 1963 by the German Packaging Institute will be announced and presented with their prizes during the opening of the FachPack trade fair event in Nuremberg, Germany, September 27, 2010.
Tampering and theft along the logistics chain and at retailers cost enterprises some 114 billion dollars worldwide last year according to figures calculated by the Center for Retail Research in its current Global Retail Theft Barometer. Special tamper-evident seals for packaging and transport containers, such as tesa® StretchSeal 64017, offer effective protection in combating this problem. tesa® StretchSeal 64017 is available both with and without tabs in various shapes and sizes as well as in the primary colors red and blue – and also in a transparent version. The seals can be custom-printed with company names, logos etc., which further enhances the security effect. What’s more, they can be provided with item-unique barcodes and serial numbers, permitting their integration into track and trace processes. This ensures greater transparency in the logistics chain and enables the entire transport routes of each consignment to be traced in detail.
