Whether it’s a question of ink cartridges, pharmaceutical products or car fan belts, a growing number of counterfeit products have an increasingly negative impact on brand manufacturers’ image, customer confidence and sales in mass markets with a particularly high number of units sold. This is why tesa scribos® has developed another security solution to protect against brand piracy and product theft in the supply chain within the framework of its integrated security concept. The genius of the new tesa® CodeSeal lies in its integrated code.

Conventional security labels will reveal whether a product has been opened by an unauthorised person as it makes its way through the logistics chain. Until now, you have generally been unable to prove a product’s authenticity. That’s why tesa scribos®, a subsidiary of tesa SE, goes a step further with tesa® CodeSeal. This new label combines visible proof of any tampering with an individual security code. What makes tesa® CodeSeal special is the fact that labels and codes are inseparably linked together. Each label has its own computer-generated identity. Encryption prevents counterfeiters from producing valid product codes. Integrating a code in the CodeSeal label also prevents any attempts at copying from the outset. Other features, such as barcodes to provide product traceability, can be easily incorporated into the design.

The different versions of the new tesa® CodeSeal enable authenticity to be verified with or without a database. The security code, which is revealed or completed in the security effect when the label is peeled away, can be verified on quick visual inspection or via the Internet or an SMS.

Besides straightforward authentication, each code can also be used as user identification to register customers or products in customer loyalty programmes.

All tesa® CodeSeal labels also provide a great deal of scope for customised design. From size and shape through to colours and the security effect, all CodeSeal elements can be adapted to different product and market requirements.

With its new security label for mass markets, tesa scribos® is broadening its integrated security concept.
