become serious economic problems in almost all markets. Those who
suffer most are manufacturers, license holders and authorized trading
partners – and last but not least the state, as jobs and

forged products are usually of poor quality and can even be perilous.

tesa Holospot®-System used with Nivea-Products
At the heart of the technological portfolio is the tesa Holospot®-Technology.
It offers the highest degree of piracy protection and efficient tracing
of grey market goods in a single system, a combination that processes
used hitherto have been unable to offer. The system allows both the authentication
and the storing of extensive information in the smallest of places directly
on the product – at a price that makes mass production viable.
So, for example the tesa Holospot®-System is successfully used by
Beiersdorf AG since the beginning of 2004 to protect Nivea-Products in
East Europe from forgery.
Performance expanded – new fields of application
The Holospot® is a self-adhesive data carrier with a 1 mm² data
field which in form of a minute label is attached directly to a product.
A laser writer can store information which was transformed beforehand
by computer into a digital hologram. Significant advantages lie in the
large storage capacity of the material and in the versatility of the
forgery-proof characteristics that can be combined and deposited on the
Holospot®. The areas of application of the technology have now been
expanded by way of new performance features. Thus, also openly visible
features can now be deposited on the label right next to covert images
or texts that can only be read with a magnifying glass or special reading
devices. These comprise colour changing serial or code numbers that can
be read with the naked eye. With the help of these open features brand
name products can be identified and verified for authenticity by everyone.
It is this versatility that makes the system into a tailor-made security
solution for a multitude of application fields.
Versatile security by tesa scribos
Moreover, tesa scribos offers scores of additional security technologies.
These comprise amongst others tesa IdentSeal, a specialty label for
fraud resistant marking of products that is successfully being applied
in the automotive industry as well as the practice proven security
concept of the tesa Security Seals for protection against manipulation
and theft in the packaging and logistics sector. The technological
performance portfolio is topped off by security labels that are protected
against forgery by means of special printing processes.
