Over the past four years tesa in cooperation with
a research team of the University of Mannheim and the European
Media Lab (EML) Heidelberg has worked on the subjects of security
technology and data storage.
The developments in hard- and software as well as in the area
of film materials have progressed very well. The research result
- the so-called Holospot system - provides clear advantages in
comparison to traditional security systems : large data volumes
can be stored on very little space, and the Holospots can be
individualized at high speed. Furthermore, the system is very
cost efficient.
Together with the researchers from Heidelberg and Mannheim,
tesa has founded a new company, tesa scribos GmbH, early in 2002,
holding a share of 75%. In order to fully focus on the development
of the Holospot system, the new company is managed independently
of the traditional adhesive tape business. A capital investment
of more than 5 million Euro secures the start of the company
and further developmental steps towards marketability of this
new, fascinating tesa technology.
